Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension: DLC, Hyperspace, and Bundle Guide
Understand Mega Dimension's post-story adventure, Hoopa's hyperspace portals, powerful Pokémon, and the difference between DLC and the later bundle.

An expansion after Lumiose's main story
Mega Dimension is paid additional content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, not a standalone game. Its story continues after the conclusion of the base adventure. The official launch announcement dates that release to December 10, 2025. This matters when comparing editions: buying an expansion does not replace the requirement to own the underlying game, and reaching its main adventure requires completing the relevant story first.
The premise begins with strange distortions appearing around Lumiose. Team MZ investigates with Ansha and Hoopa, whose powers provide access to hyperspace. The resulting setting is an altered version of the city rather than a conventional new route beyond its borders. That allows the expansion to revisit a recognizable place while changing what players find there.
What hyperspace changes
The official trailer information distinguishes Hyperspace Lumiose from the regular city. It contains Pokémon that are not found in the ordinary Lumiose setting, and opponents can have hyperspace levels that push their total beyond the usual level 100 limit. Those extra levels are a feature of the expansion's encounters; they should not be described as a universal change to every Pokémon game.
For planning a return to Z-A, the important question is preparation rather than simply collecting more levels. The base game already asks players to consider movement and move timing. Stronger encounters make it sensible to revisit those fundamentals and understand the team you bring. This is practical interpretation of the announced design, not a guarantee that one specific team or move will clear all of the expansion's challenges.
Mega Pokémon and the role of Hoopa
The launch announcement names Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho, and Mega Baxcalibur among the new Mega-Evolved Pokémon associated with the adventure. Naming those confirmed examples is more useful than inventing a complete encounter checklist from promotional images. Hoopa is central to reaching the other dimension, so its presence belongs to the expansion's premise rather than an assumption about an ordinary wild encounter.
A species page and a game-specific form guide serve different purposes. Our Pokédex can introduce Raichu, Chimecho, Baxcalibur, and Hoopa without claiming that every form, stat distribution, or acquisition method from Z-A applies to the national species record. When checking a particular Mega form, use information that identifies this game and its expansion explicitly.
The October 2026 bundle is a different date
As checked on October 4, 2026, the official site lists a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Mega Dimension bundle for October 29, 2026. That is the planned release of a package containing the enhanced base game and its DLC. It is not the original launch date of either the base adventure or Mega Dimension. Keeping those three dates separate avoids making older content sound unreleased.
If you already own Z-A, compare the separate expansion with the contents of the bundle rather than assuming a new package creates new story material. If you are starting fresh, a combined package may be convenient, but prices and regional offers should be checked at the retailer when purchasing. This guide makes no claim that one option is always cheaper.
The clearest reading order is the base-game overview, the DLC requirements, and then the hyperspace features. That order keeps the product question separate from the story question and helps avoid accidental spoilers while deciding whether to continue the adventure.
