Build & Battle in Pokémon TCG Live
Learn how the digital limited-deck mode differs from ranked constructed play, without relying on an expired event schedule.

A mode built around a supplied pool
Build & Battle arrived in Pokémon TCG Live on May 21, 2026 alongside Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising. The official launch announcement describes four-Prize matches, while the development team explains a 40-card deck built from a limited pool. The mode adapts a local prerelease concept to a digital setting.
The appeal is working with what the event provides. Your ordinary collection and a perfected constructed list are not the starting point for this deckbuilding problem. Choose supported attackers, understand available Trainers and find a plan that survives an imperfect opening hand.
Compare it with constructed play
In constructed play, deckbuilding can begin with a chosen strategy and the cards needed to execute it. In a limited pool, the available cards determine which strategies are realistic. A useful Basic or flexible attack can matter more than an impressive final evolution without supporting stages.
Read the event instructions before entering. Launch materials identify Event Tokens as the entry currency and describe free entries during particular launch events. Those past promotions are not a promise of a free entry today. The current event screen is the appropriate place to confirm active rules and cost.
Make each revision answer a problem
After a game, inspect why your plan stalled. Were attack costs difficult to meet? Did an evolution line consume too many slots? Did a Trainer effect have a condition you missed? Change one part of the deck to address that problem, then compare the next result.
Keep observations specific rather than calling a pool simply good or bad. A card that seemed weak may provide a reliable backup attacker. A high-damage attack can be difficult to use often enough. These are deckbuilding questions, not forecasts of a sealed product’s financial value.
Use the official client for battles
TCG Live is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Events, rewards and eligible pools can change, so this article explains the format rather than presenting a dated launch calendar as a current schedule. Follow client notices for active events.
Poke Fun Play offers a separate collecting simulator, readable card pages and set binders. It does not connect a simulated collection to TCG Live or enter official events for you. Use our catalogue to explore text and art, and the official client to practice battles.
