Pokédex 2048 Pokémon game artwork

Slide equal numbered Pokémon tiles together and work towards 2048. Choose Kanto, Johto, Hoenn or mixed artwork.

How to play

  1. Swipe or use arrow keys to slide all tiles. Equal numbers merge once per move. A fresh tile appears only after a move changes the board.
  2. The game begins when the page opens. Change its settings for a fresh challenge, or use the restart control for another round.

Strategy tips

Keep the largest tile near a corner and build a descending line beside it. Do not break that structure just to make a small merge elsewhere.

Space is as useful as points. Inspect both rows and columns when the board fills: equal neighbours can leave a legal move even with no empty squares.

Can a newly merged tile merge again in the same move?

No. Before the new tile is added, sliding a row of 2, 2, 2 and an empty square to the left produces 4, 2 and two empty squares, not 8. Each tile participates in at most one merge during that slide. A new tile appears only when the board actually changes.

Is keeping my largest tile in a corner always enough?

It is a useful structure, not a guarantee. Keep nearby rows in descending order and preserve space to bring matching tiles together. Before a slide, inspect the whole board: a move that saves one corner can still separate an important matching pair elsewhere. Reaching 2048 lets you keep playing.

Do the Pokémon pictures represent an actual evolution chain?

Pokémon artwork follows a numbered puzzle progression. It is not a canonical evolution chain. Reach 2048, then continue if you want.
